Marzena as we know was Miss Polonia 2006.

She represented Poland in the Miss World contest in 2006 and created wild excitement amongst the Australian and foreign media when she attended the 2007 Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix Ball wearing a exquisite gown created by Polish fashion designer Ewa Minga.

Upon ending her year-long contractural obligations as Miss Polonia 2006, Marzena duly completed her Degree in Economics and will soon be undertaking a career as a lecturer at the same University-based in Szczecin, Poland.

 

 

 

Marzena follows in the footsteps of Polish superstars – pop icon Doda and actor Kasia Figura who have also featured as Playboy centerfolds.

Reaction from Biuro Miss Polonia in Warsaw was succinct, as Marzena Cieslik is no longer a reigning Miss Polonia and free to pursue her career as she sees fit.

 “The values, behaviour and image demanded by the representative role is made contracturally clear to a reigning Miss Polonia. It must be in harmony with the ideals of femininity, beauty and intelligence that reflect our 79 year history as Poland’s premier beauty pageant, the ambassadorial role and the vast work Miss Polonia undertakes with charitable organizations”…said a Biuro Miss Polonia spokesperson.

The Miss Polonia movement is building a worldwide reputation.

The first Miss Polonia contest in 1929 initiated the concept of “Najpiekniejsza Polka” (the most beautiful Polish girl) which Poles accept as part of popular culture.

However its’ appeal in the 21^st Century in a globalised marketplace is largely depedent upon the team at Biuro Miss Polonia in Warsaw, headed by President Elzbieta Wierzbicka.

Elzbieta Wierzbicka is credited with attracting the 2006 Miss World competition to Poland and as such an estimated television audience of 2 billion for the Final.

It was the first time the contest had ever been held in so called “Eastern Europe”.

Elzbieta Wierzbicka also helped successfully develop the Miss Polonia link with the Formula 1 Grand Prix Circuit and expanded the participation of Miss Polonia organizations to five countries in 2008, including Australia, USA, Canada, Sweden and Lithuania.

 

 

 

She is the driving force in visiting and promoting Miss Polonia in Africa and Asia and will be looking toward South America in the near future.

Traditionally the Poland representatives at the Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss Earth and Miss International Contests are selected by Biuro Miss Polonia.

In the meantime the 40 regional Miss Polonia organizations within Poland remain the prime network for the 5,000 girls who apply on an annual basis to enter the Miss Polonia Contest. As such the home marketplace strategy is innovatively implemented to maintain and grow its’ popular appeal.

Maxime Delight for Ronaldo?

This year’s glamorous Miss Polonia beauty pageant featured an unprecedented five candidates from other countries, including our own Linda Kowalski.

Of the five countries (Australia, USA, Canada, Lithuania and Sweden) it was Miss Polonia-Sweden, Maxime Calington who advanced to the final 5 contestants before Angelika Jakubowska was announced as Miss Polonia 2008.

Miss Polonia-Australia 2008 Linda Kowalski appeared on the popular Today Tonight program on the Seven Network on Wednesday evening 26^th November 2008.

Linda was featured as the “Real-life Miss Congeniality” and told her entertaining story about her 100 day preparation for the Miss Polonia Contest in Lodz, Poland on 13^th September 2008 where she was awarded the title of Miss Congeniality.

In a colourful segment Linda told of her determination to overcome dietary, family health and fitness issues before making it on the big stage in Poland.

Miss Polonia-Australia at Federation Square

Melbourne turned on a perfect day for the Annual Polish Festival on Sunday 16th Nov 2008.

Returning to Melbourne for the Festival was Miss Polonia-Australia 2008, Linda Kowalski following her participation in the Miss Polonia Beauty Pageant in Lodz, Poland where she won the title “Miss Polonia Congeniality”.                        

 

 

LINDA WINS MISS POLONIA – CONGENIALITY

 

Lodz, Poland – 13^th September 2008

Biuro Miss Polonia Australia is proud to announce that Linda Kowalska representing Australia, was voted Miss Polonia Congeniality (Miss Polonia Osobowosci) at the Miss Polonia Final in Lodz, Poland on Saturday 13^th September 2008.

Linda was elected by her peers (namely the 24 other fellow contestants) as the girl “most congenial” during the week-long preparations leading up to and including the Final. Linda was announced as winner of Miss Polonia Congeniality during the live telecast of the Final which was beamed to a national audience.

 

 

Linda also gave a thank you speech in which she congratulated her fellow contestants and described them as being the “true flowers of Poland”. It was a memorable moment to have an Australian flag waving so predominantly on a Polish stage. We are sure Linda has inspired the future participation of contestants in the Miss Polonia-Australia pageant.

The highlight of the evening was of course the announcement of the new Miss Polonia 2008. She is Angelika Jakubowska – a 19 year old student representing the region of Lower Silesia (Dolnoslaskie). The blonde Angelika broke the trend of brunettes winning the most recent Miss Polonia contests. We look forward to seeing Angelika at the 2009 Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in March 2009 as a guest of the Grand Prix Corporation and Biuro Miss Polonia-Australia.
